Libby Mitchell (1928 - 2024)

Libby Mitchell was born in Philadelphia in 1928 and created art for over fifty years. She had a studio in Blue Hill, Maine, a small town in the Northeast of the state, where she lived and worked. She was influenced by the New York expressionists and inspired by the Italian Renaissance painters. She used acrylics in her final works as it allowed her to paint in complex layers with vibrant colors. Her paintings are in private collections and museums in the United States and Europe.
